As the COVID-19 pandemic triggered a global shift to remote work, The National turned to Amir Kolahzadeh, founder and CEO of ITSEC, for expert analysis on the new cybersecurity threat landscape.

Kolahzadeh warned that video conferencing platforms such as Zoom — previously low-priority targets for cybercriminals — became prime attack surfaces overnight as remote work made them lucrative for hackers.

"Video conferencing platforms were not high on the target list for cyber criminals until the Covid-19 pandemic," Kolahzadeh told The National. "But the remote working environment globally suddenly made the wealth of information worth the risk for hackers."

The article connected Kolahzadeh's analysis to a Dubai Future Foundation prediction that hybrid and remote working models would become the post-pandemic norm — making enterprise cyber resilience a long-term strategic priority rather than a temporary response.
